Filming and Photography | Leknes GoPro Accessories

I haven't really written up much on filming and photography for you guys before, but last week I picked my husband up a ridiculously affordable set of GoPro accessories and thought I would take the opportunity to do a unboxing type post today. He will be trying everything out over the next few weeks so pop back for an in-depth review.

We get a lot of questions from people about the equipment we use, and my husband is big into cinematography and film production. While I record and edit all my videos for my main channel, both my husband and I post to our vlog channel.

While I prefer to use our Canon Rebel T5i for both photo's and filming, Shane prefers his GoPro Hero 3.

Before picking up this set from Amazon, the only accessories we had were GoPro's head mount which Shane often uses for his airsoft videos and a suction cup mount. We also have the waterproof dive case - which came with the GoPro.

We have been looking at accessories for a long time, and GoPro accessories can be quite expensive! So we were even prepared to go as far as DIY accessories for our camera.

For the past few weeks however, we have had this kit sitting in our basket while we looked up some reviews online. Eventually we decided to go ahead and pick it up for ourselves.

The accessories came in a shockproof carry case, which was inside a velvet style drawstring bag.

Inside the case, each accessory was individually packaged.

The case itself is decent quality. This is a cheap set overall, so you could invest in better quality foam and re-cut it yourself because as you can see - the foam inside is quite cheap. Nevertheless it is still a pretty sturdy case.

There were several different companies selling sets similar to this, we went with Leknes, simply because it had the best reviews. Although I do think the kits are all pretty much the same from a quick look at the others on offer.

The set came with tonnes of accessories and extras including:

  • 1 x Large Shockproof Carry Case
  • 1 x Chest Belt Strap Mount
  • 1 x Helmet Belt Strap Mount
  • 1 x Extendable Handle Monopod with Phone Clamp (Selfie Stick)
  • 1 x Floating Handle Grip
  • 2 x Tripod Mount Adaptors
  • 1 x Tripod Mount
  • 1 x Wifi Remote Wrist Strap
  • 1 x 360 Degree Rotation Wrist Strap
  • 1 x 360 Degree Rotary Clip Mount
  • 1 x Bike Handlebar Mount
  • 1 x Adjustable Suction Cup Mount
  • 2 x Surface Quick Release Buckle
  • 1 x Three Way Adjustable Pivot Arm
  • 1 x 12pcs Anti Fog insert for GoPro
  • 2 x Insurance Tether Straps + 3M Adhesive
  • 1 x Wrench / Spanner / Screw Tool
  • 1 x Floaty Sponge
  • 1 x 3 way Pivot Arm Assembly Extension Kit
  • 2 x Flat Surface Mount with Adhesive
  • 1 x Rubber Locking Plug
  • 2 x J-Hook Mount
  • 1 x 32GB TF card and Card Adaptor
  • 1 x Leknes Pouch
  • 1 x Flannel Bag

The chest rig alone fits comfortably, and is pretty impressive quality for the overall cost of this set.

We've compared what we can to our official GoPro accessories such as the head strap mount and the suction cup mount, and obviously the GoPro version have a noticeable difference when it comes to quality. That said, the accessories in this kit are pretty sturdy on first impression and will definitely get used in the near future!

When buying a set like this, it is important to consider the limit you wish to test your GoPro too. Especially when it comes to underwater filming. Try and do a lot of testing beforehand with the floaty etc and see if you trust it enough to insure the security of your device.

We are looking forward to trying out some of these accessories and seeing how they wear over time! I will keep you posted on our favourites and give you a more in-depth review in the next few weeks.

Here is one of Shane's GoPro Time lapses which he will be doing a lot more of in the next few weeks. I don't know about you guys - but there is something incredibly relaxing about having videos like this on in the background!
